Self-Employed? 4 Key Arguments for Working Abroad

If you’re self-employed, why on earth would you want to up ship and move to another country? Actually there are many reasons why you might want to do so. Here is a list of four of the key arguments why it may be a good idea for you to pack up your bags and head overseas to experience something completely different.

1. Cheaper Cost of Living

Some countries are so much cheaper than the UK. So cheap, in fact, that you will easily cancel out the costs of the flight and other associated travel expenses when you live there for a few months.

This is one of the key attractions for many people who want to go abroad, for work or otherwise. In some cases you may find that you are able to rent a big apartment, eat out every night and travel around the country all for a fraction of the price of your daily living costs back home.

2. New Horizons Bring New Opportunities

Whenever I go abroad I look for new link-building opportunities for my SEO company (a topic I cover in this blog post). Whatever type of work you carry out you may find that there are new opportunities abroad for which you can keep an eye out.

For example, if you are a freelance writer and you go to a country where English is not the first language, you may find new clients and a whole new market awaiting you for editing and proofreading English documents. You might even end up making clients in your new country for whom you can carry on working when you return home.

3. Better Work Environment

One of the main attractions of leaving the UK behind is leaving the weather behind as well. You don’t have to go far to find sunny days, stunning beaches and a better quality of life. The UK is now one of the worst places in Europe for its quality of life, and I think a lot of people would put at least some of that down to the weather. So find inspiration in a new setting and never complain about the weather again.

4. The Best Way to Travel

The benefit of working abroad is that you are travelling and seeing the world whilst supporting yourself at the same time. If you have always wanted to travel then working abroad will give you the freedom you crave to travel the world and take your work with you. You could easily travel for longer by earning as you go, and you can use your work to fund your trip for as long as you want.

Work Abroad and Experience Something New

Many self-employed people decide to escape abroad to experience something completely different from the norm. These are just some of the most important arguments for heading abroad if you are self-employed. If you are still unsure about whether you want to head abroad for a while then think carefully about all that it has to offer, and you too may end up heading off to a new life overseas sooner than you thought.
